Iba'a, born in 2014 in a small town in Syria, suffers from quadriplegia, a paralysis of all four limbs, with the legs being more severely affected. He is mentally disabled and cannot speak.

Iba'a

Iba'a has five siblings and lives in a dilapidated house with only one covered room and a leaking roof. The mother is a single parent. The father went to Lebanon to look for work without ever sending any money home. Now he wants a divorce. The family lives on handouts from their neighbours. The two older brothers, aged 10 and 12, sell biscuits on the street to contribute a little to the household income.

Ebaa's Familie

We care replaced Iba'a's completely broken wheelchair and went with him to the doctor, who prescribed physiotherapy and speech therapy. However, it is very doubtful whether anything can be achieved with speech therapy at this age and with a mental disability. He is now attending physiotherapy.

We care will pay for his physiotherapy and medication, as he also suffers from cramps. It may be possible that an operation will be necessary at a later date.

Winters are very cold in Syria – it can also snow, so we have provided all the children with warm clothes and a warm blanket for Iba'a. We will keep you updated.
